Carnival Column — the greenest thing in the room

Emerald green has always meant something. Richness. Depth. The kind of color that commands a room without raising its voice. Then the Carnival Column shows up down the right leg and raises the volume considerably.

Carnival Column is an original digital artwork by Melbourne artist Bert Ernie — a tightly packed vertical column of abstract forms, layered and translucent, dense with color and movement. The design runs from hip to hem down the right leg, with the front and rear panels cut from the same print and sewn together at the side seam, mirroring each other to create a totem-pole effect that looks like it was always part of the plan. Tucked into the design is the wild peach logo in matching emerald green, with a subtle 3D effect that rewards anyone who looks closely enough.

Against the emerald base, the pinks and magentas in the composition sing with extraordinary contrast. The warm oranges and yellows push back against the cool depth of the green. The purples and blues add mystery. It’s a combination that feels simultaneously lush and electric — which, when you think about it, is exactly what emerald green has always been capable of.
