Your tote bag is probably the hardest-working object you own, and it’s probably grey with a supermarket’s name on it. Worth sitting with that for a second: the thing you carry most days of your life, seen by more people than anything else you own, and you’re using it to advertise a company that isn’t paying you.
A wild peach large tote takes 22lbs (10kg) and holds 4.4 US gallons (17.8 litres) — a full grocery shop, a laptop and a jumper, a day at the beach, everything for the market and a swim afterwards. It’s the workhorse. Nothing about that job requires it to be invisible while it does it.
What’s on it is the whole point. Every design is original art by Melbourne artist Bert Ernie — abstract paintings, vector work, color pushed well past where every other brand gets nervous and stops. Printed edge to edge, front and back, and the two sides are never the same.
And none of it exists until you want it. Printful prints, cuts and hand-sews each bag to order, ethically, so there’s no warehouse of unsold stock and nothing ends up in landfill unworn. The loudest bag on the tram, made for one person, because that person asked.
