Carnival Column — the gentle one that isn’t

Lavender has a reputation. Calm. Soothing. The color of bath products and Sunday afternoons. It is also, as it turns out, one of the most subversive bases in the entire Carnival Column lineup.

Carnival Column is an original digital artwork by Melbourne artist Bert Ernie — a tightly packed vertical column of abstract forms, layered and translucent, dense with color and movement. The design runs from hip to hem down the right leg, with the front and rear panels cut from the same print and sewn together at the side seam, mirroring each other to create a totem-pole effect that looks entirely deliberate. Tucked into the design is the wild peach logo in matching lavender purple, with a subtle 3D effect that rewards anyone who looks closely enough.

Against the lavender base, the design takes on a dreamlike quality that none of the deeper variants can replicate. The pinks and magentas dissolve warmly into the base. The greens and teals float above it. The reds and oranges pop with unexpected sharpness.
